Actor Duarte Gomes is back on TVI’s soap opera “A Protegida”. In the plot written by Patrícia Muller and produced by Plural Entertainment, Duarte plays the character Manuel Esteves, a boy who grew up in a social housing estate where crime was part of everyday life. He tried to straighten things out with his studies and became a good student, but the temptation of easy money was always more appealing. He found his only family in Sofia and became obsessed with her, putting her above all else. It was during one of the robberies they carried out together that they met Hector, his alibi for the involuntary manslaughter of the owner of the store they robbed. Although he has learned karate and performs heavy tasks for Hector, he dreams of a comfortable life with Sofia, but she postpones this escape because she still sees a use for the businessman. Jealous and hot-tempered, Manuel accepts Sofia’s wishes without question, but he needs to learn to chart his own course. In extreme situations, everyone else will come second. This truth also applies to couples’ relationships.
